Yes, the P1i may be outdated to the SE showroom, but it isn’t to me. I can still handle all my work very deftly and even after all these years I am not tempted to upgrade. Takes the odd photograph well and even doubles as my jukebox.
You could take a look at some BlackBerry’s if you wish, but the P1i still rocks my boat!

I am an avid user of P990i (April 2006 model) but lately I have started experiencing problems in charging i.e. the phone shows charging in progress but actually it is not getting charged. No fault in battery, but SE engineers say motherboard needs to be changed, thus decreasing a good Rs. 20K or so from my pocket, that too for a 3.5 yr. old phone.

I was looking for some replacement of my old P990i and your blog has shown me the way out. Just wanted to ask you whether this P1i is still available in market ??? Some stores were not knowing about it and even SE showroom salesmen were trying hard to convince me that it is an outdated phone.

I think as a good productive phone, the P1i is still a very good handset. I agree video was never its strength, but I couldn’t care less. The fact that I’m not tempted to upgrade stands as a testimony to the phone’s workhorse capabilities.

I appreciate your review . I had been using P1i for quite a long period before I purchased an HTC. P1i is an awesome phone in terms of design and performance. Symbian OS enables users to download Symbian based applications. Camera is a star performer although video recording is sluggish and substandard. If you weigh the pros and cons, you will see that pros are more. It has become obsolete. You may better go for Nokia X6. It is gonna rock, I guess.

Hi, I am using P1i from past 2 years and I have encountered following problems:
1. If using Airtel cannot make out going calls.
2. some places the area info dose not work.
3. some times scroll works in opp direction.
4. cannot receive a call unless the unlock keywords are typed in.
5. now a days I cannot make outgoing calls from certain areas only incomming and SMS.

Would appriciate if any solution for these problems. Thanks & Regards.

Hiiiiiiiiiiii…….

when we are listening to FM radio in P1i at that time if we receive any incoming call and after talking when we end the call, the phone is not again resuming the FM radio we need on it from the main menu.

I s there any option for resuming the FM after ending the incoming call directly.

If the game supports the touch screen, use it. And to select using keypad, press the Click Wheel.

i) While playing a game how to move up,down,left,right.
ii) How to select an option with keypad,there is no select button in the keypad.pls reply fast,i have more query about this phone.

Just use the click wheel. That’ll take you left, right and everywhere else. :)
