Dr. Watson, you need some rest..

October 18th, 2007 Posted in My World..

Dr. Watson who?

James Watson, is someone who jointly won a nobel prize in medicine in 1962 for discovering the structure of DNA, and now he heads the newly-formed Allen Institute for Brain Science. ( You can see his Wikipedia page for more ).

Dr. Watson what?

So you ask, why am I reviving his memories now? Because this guy doesnt quite rest on his laurels, and I dont quite mean it in a very positive way. His other favourite passtime apart from ripping DNA is passing racial slurs. Huh? Whats that now, you ask. Why will someone who’s so brainy pass such remarks?

I just got up today morning, to read in the Times Of India about this old hat speaking nonsense about how the colour of skin determines intelligence and a lot of other factors.

He says that he is”inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa’’ because “all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours—whereas all the testing says not really’’.

So Mr. Watson, you think the amount of melanin once skin generates decides the intelligence of a person? Intelligence and beauty are certainly not things that are concentrated in certain pockets of the world, but spatially distributed by Nature, all across the globe. If some part of the world has a rich pool of intelligentia, it does so only because it has the infrastructure and moolah. This in turn attracts talent from all over the world.

But its just you, Dr. Watson, who says that “Blacks are stupid?” This directly means that you are accusing people like Martin Luther, Oprah Winfrey and so many other countless people of being stupid. Pray, were/are they? I am ashamed that we let such frivolous factors affect our logical decisions and there can exist such narrow mindedness at the highest levels of professionalism. I thought all this “racial” crap was buried a long time ago. God bless, people like you, who have nothing better to do, to bring it up. Like I said, Dr. Watson, you definitely need some rest.

He’s a racist, but he’s obviously one of the most distinguished geneticists of our time, so you can’t discount his views because they offend you. It’s not that black people are genetically “inferior” but rather have genetically “different.” When your ancestors live for several thousand years in a place like Africa, your bodies will evolve to meet the needs of surviving in Africa. It’s not melanin, it’s traits that through thousands of years, are more prominent in people who benefit from them. Athleticism and sexuality will be stressed, considering the environment insists upon the ability to tough out droughts/famine/lions and compensate for a low child life expectancy. It’s the same way Asian people excel at math, yet aren’t (for the most part) adept at sports; an isolated culture with no natural predators leads quiet nicely into a civilization that would value intellectual exploits, but has no need for broad shoulders. This isn’t saying there’s no incredibly intelligent black people, or incredibly athletic Asian people; of course there are. Zora Neale Hurston and Yao Ming disprove assumptions like that. What Watson does mean is that on average, races will demonstrate traits characteristically beneficial to their habitats, as any other creature in the world would. Genetically, some people DO have evolved skills that, in a western culture, translate to intelligence, and other haven’t.

    I agree with the writer…

This is a very disrespectful article. Very insulting to Dr. Watson and any elderly person.

  4. Ali T. Says:

On June the 2nd, 2005, The Economist magazine published an article titled “The evolution of intelligence”. There, it was suggested that Ashkenazi Jews are genetically smarter. The article and the authors of the original research have not been condemned at all.

Now, James Watson suggests that White Europeans might be smarter. And he is immediately condemned. He might even be punished by his employer.

This shows how media has an anti-White and pro-Jewish orientation. It is clear that if Watson would be Jewish and he would suggest that Jews are smarter, he would not be criticized at all.

One difference Mr Ali, over here, Dr. Watson criticized someone. In the example you are giving me, the authors have proven someone to be more superior than someone else.
    There’s a big difference.

    Greetings,

Excellent article, great points, very clean and concise. I enjoyed reading and agree with you. Thanks for sharing.

Oh and to the Ali T. and other similar comparisons that pull in a similar offense with different participants and note that the responses aren’t the same. I say that you have to look at the history of the people. Any type of violation to a historically oppressed group of people will have a larger amount of protest than would a violation to a group that historically has promoted itself over all others. Its not that anything is pro-”jewish”, pro-black etc its just that people are more sensitive to the person being bullied, so to speak, and not the person traditionally being picked on. In the event that the analogous bully is served up a does of their own medicine, people don’t blink so much. White people aren’t going to lose any sleep or money over something like this, their world image is too solidly ingrained to be shaken so easily. But blacks, “jews”, hispanics, etc might suffer an increase in discrimination that might directly effect their quality of living.

    Sincerely,
    The Anthroblogogist
