Sceptre at NIFT 2007
What do you do when the grapevine tells you that your favourite band, Sceptre, is going to play at a place which is loaded with senorita’s of the finest form…well, leave all else and head straight to the gig, what else!!
Once we entered, there was only one thing I did consistently. Pick my jaw off the floor. NIFT Mumbai is a right structural marvel when you look at it. And the beautiful girls you see over there is like an icing on the cake. (I hope all of the NIFTians take this in a positive manner. Come to think of it, you are now famous for your sense of style over the internet too!)
The event started slightly late, but who’s complaining, I was in wonderland, you see. There were many performances which you usually get to see at college functions and their ilk. I was sincrely bored to death (I actually made a song… Bored, Bored to Death) and all the more agonised when all this meant Sceptre would have to cut down on their stage time.
There were 3 vocalists whom I really liked, 2 gals and a guy from some remote place. None of the instrument brandishers were any noteworthy. Some of them even got their chords wrong. Bah!
It was finally time for Sceptre, and the band made sure that the sound was upto their satisfaction before they played. But once that happened, everything was forgiven and forgotten(the 2 hours before they played tested my patience to the T). They opened with Metallica’s Fuel and the wannabe crowd started moving around. I witnessed some of the funniest headbanging in all my life. And there were some specimens as well. My Chemical Romance inspired attire, tattoos, piercings et al. I swear, Sceptre must have played to the most wannabe crowd in their whole life as a band.
They played their OC’s and since it was a college gig, they had to play Nothing Else Matters and So What. (I wanted Slayer, boo.) They then proceeded to do an awesome Metallica medley which included Whiplash, The Four Horsemen, Enter Sandman and Seek & Destroy. The band was performing really well and Teemeer did the right thing the way in which he was controlling the crowd.
They ended the day with 2 Black Sabbath covers which sounded really nice. This is what seperates the men from the boys and why I maintain that Sceptre is India’s best Thrash Metal band.

Oh the kanchas!! Everyone of you was a wannabe to the core…and a wannabe’s comment doesnt count for much when u say “Brute Force better than Sceptre”. Sceptre is more experienced than anyone’s daddy over here. and more musical at that. Brute Force vocals are so lame.. and i challenge their lead to do better than Teemeer.
Get lost kiddo…and I almost read “ghawti guy”. Well, u dont need to say that. We know it.
